The name Pihl comes from an old Swedish word for arrow — a symbol of direction, clarity, and purpose.

It was also the last name of Johan’s grandmother. She survived the hardships of the Second World War with a grace that never wavered. She moved through life with conviction, a steady moral compass, and a resilience that didn’t need to be spoken to be understood.
